As part of the World Science Festival Brisbane 2026, Three Little Birds is proud to present a unique and sensory experience that blends nature, culture and creativity β the Digital Detox: Native Botanical Mocktail Workshop with First Nations chef Chris Jordan.

Taking place on 28 March 2026 at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-Tha, this relaxed, hands-on workshop invites you to step away from screens and tune into the rhythms of country. Itβs all about connecting with native plants, hearing their stories, and discovering how flavours from this land can be used to make delicious alcohol-free mocktails.
Chef Chris, celebrated for his work bringing First Nations foodways to life, will guide you through the cultural significance and sustainable uses of native botanicals such as lemon myrtle, riberry and ooray. Participants will blend these ingredients to create their own mocktail creations β a sensory celebration of Indigenous knowledge and modern mixology.

More than just a drink workshop, this session encourages mindfulness and connection β to land, to people, and to the simple joy of making something meaningful with your own hands. By putting phones aside and engaging in story, taste and touch, it fits perfectly within the festivalβs Digital Detox series β an opportunity to take a breather from daily life and reconnect with the natural world.
The World Science Festival Brisbane itself is a major annual celebration of ideas, discovery and wonder, with events spanning science, art, technology and culture across the city in late March. Itβs a festival for all ages, inviting everyone from curious families to seasoned science lovers to explore big ideas in fun and interactive ways.

Whether youβre keen on learning about native ingredients, crafting your own botanical mocktail, or simply taking a moment to disconnect and enjoy the gardens, this workshop offers something special.
